In the picture you can see my main station setup.Yaesu FT1000MKV HF,Md 100 desk microphone. IC706 MK11g for HF inc 5Mhz,2m ssb,6M all mode.
Icom IC2725e dual band radio for 2/70 FM and extended receive.. Tuner is the MFJ 949E.I have WATSON 25A psu and a 25W Power Mite psu, and rotator control under the bench.I have a Trio TR 9000 on 4M via a Microwave Modules Transverter putting out 10 watts, into a Vertical antenna. H/H's for various listening modes. My Antennas can be seen on the Antennas page.I also have the screen for the Weather Station on the bench.Having Mobility problems its so easy having all my radios in reach so as not having to sit in another room to play with my toys, and being single I can have cables running all over the place without GBH of the lugholes.I enjoy chasing SOTA Stations as they bring a lot of activity to the bands. If you hear me on the bands Please feel free to give me a call.

My son purchased a TS-430S, with a rather tatty case, but in working order. All the Paint was removed with a heavy duty wire brush on the bench drill down to the bare metal, and to remove any scratches. I have put a couple of pics on to show the radio before and after. I think the case has now taken a lot of years off an old set bringing it more into the 21st century

I needed another Mounting Plate for my IC-706 mk11G, and these are not cheap for what they are, so Put my Cheapo fix head on and made this one. Cost? £0.00.

Ruths Cabin on the promenade near to Happy Mount Park is one of my Favourite places to just watch the world go by,and totally relax. I usually have Amateur Radio in the car and take something to read.
I always have some food from the cafe as its brilliant and not expensive.I recommend it to anyone passing to give it a try.

The state of the bench in the living room, everything just dumped in a heap, so decided to build a small set of shelves
At last a bit of tidy space, and i can actually find stuff again. (Wonder how long it will last)I have even tidied the work bench and can now get to the drill and grinders etc,and make life easier.Wow i can see the drill and grinder at last.Space to work again, my sons will like it when they are fixing the motor cycles and cars, they will be able to find things now.Well I will see how long it stays tidy!!

Here I have Put details of mounting My FT 857 into my car.
Fitting is very much like fitting the VHF/UHF radio, but thought i would put it in for good measure in case anyone finds it usefull.
The Radio,Wiring and Duplexer awaiting fitting into the car! rats nest soup anyone???This is the plastic FT-857 mount, the remote head clips into this.Ah Velcro what would life be without it? The mount has velcro backing to mount on the same backplate as the VHF/UHF radio. As you see the FT-857 is now fitted to the car in easy reach, giving HF/6/2/70 with the Atas 120a Auto Antenna System working from 40 mtrs up.This pic shows just how easy it is to remove the remote head from the carNow here is a tip that may be useful. I use rewireable Kettle/computer type plugs and sockets on my radios both mobile and base. this method makes for amazingly easy movement of various pieces of equipment, especially when needing to test things.I found another bonus for using these, in that you can get a splitter that will allow 2 radios to be operated, great for when playing out in the hills etc.Last but not least the Atas 120A mobile Antenna, works well, and easy to use just press tune on the Radio and it raises or lowers depending on the frequency.I hope this is of some use to some one.

MY first radio in 1983 the belcom LS20 XE
My first radio was the belcom H/H shown in the pics.1 watt output and look at the controls, Thumb Wheels, so simple and virtually fool proof, how things have moved on with menus and millions of buttons. The shift, tone, and power controls sat under a slide off panel on the side of th Radio.Mic ear and Charger sockets on bottom of side of Radio.

HOW I MOUNTED MY DUAL BANDER INTO MY FORD ESCORT
By dave on Mar 7, 2009 | In My mobile setup
Here i have put some images of the way i mounted the radio.
The main piece is part of a CD case, cut to fit just under the cars radio, and the other end into the ash tray, just a slight push fit.
on the rear of the plastic sheet i glued a square of thin MDF (the plastic is very brittle so use a backing) leaving space around the outer edge especially the bottom edge to drop into ash tray.I then covered the front Blue Peter style with some sticky black plastic. On the top of this i laid strips of self adhesive Velcro. i then put Velcro on the back of the radio head, so it was easy to attach.
The beauty of this is that i only need to take one connector from the radio to the remote head out and lift the radio head and the mount out of the car, so simple. i hope this is of some use to someone.Oh yes and being a cloth eared old fart i have a small speaker in the ashtray cos i'm owd and deaf as well as daft.I will emphasise that for safety you should make sure your radio is connected via fuses to the battery not the fag lighter as they only give about 10 amps max.if i can help just ask, thats what the hobby is all about.

This may give you an idea for mounting a Radio in a modern vehicle.i have an Icom 2725e Dual Band Radio, and this was the solution to mounting it as you see it in the picture.
The Radio Head and microphone can easily be removed from the vehicle with ease just by unplugging the remote cable and lifting it out.

Wouxun kg-699e 4mtr Handheld.worked one on a Sota contact and was impressed, so ordered one and from ordering to arriving from china it took "4 days" amazing.I have used it mobile and it does work well. This radio is compatible with kenwood Speaker Mics etc.i hope 4mtrs takes off during the summer months. I have found a couple of problems with the Wouxun Ist the original charger packed up, and 2nd the original battery has given up the ghost. On the plus side 2 Batteries £22 from Hong Kong, same batteries in uk £20 each plus p&p..Simple vent mount for the Hand held

Wonder who put that thing on the car!I was determined not to put radios in the car, but it got the better of me. I now have 2/70 in the motor, must admit after a lifetime of radios it would be strange not to have a mobile radio in the vehicle. so back to normal whatever normal may be.
