I have made a simple mod for the Sandpiper HV9 HF vertical Antenna. The 10m wire element was a constant pain in stretching and breaking, or just going out of tune due to the fact when the wind blew it just got pulled until it was just sagging and of no use.
The element is made from aluminium tube/rod, around 92 inches long. Flatten the end and drill to fit the bolt as in the photo.I drilled and tapped the rod to secure it in the tubing
The rod is held onto the plastic clamps by a rubber band drilled to take the clamp bolt. I used a hoover belt to make the bands. This photo shows a view of the top fitting. I hope this will be of use to someone with the same problem.
