Here I have Put details of mounting My FT 857 into my car.
Fitting is very much like fitting the VHF/UHF radio, but thought i would put it in for good measure in case anyone finds it usefull.
The Radio,Wiring and Duplexer awaiting fitting into the car! rats nest soup anyone???This is the plastic FT-857 mount, the remote head clips into this.Ah Velcro what would life be without it? The mount has velcro backing to mount on the same backplate as the VHF/UHF radio. As you see the FT-857 is now fitted to the car in easy reach, giving HF/6/2/70 with the Atas 120a Auto Antenna System working from 40 mtrs up.This pic shows just how easy it is to remove the remote head from the carNow here is a tip that may be useful. I use rewireable Kettle/computer type plugs and sockets on my radios both mobile and base. this method makes for amazingly easy movement of various pieces of equipment, especially when needing to test things.I found another bonus for using these, in that you can get a splitter that will allow 2 radios to be operated, great for when playing out in the hills etc.Last but not least the Atas 120A mobile Antenna, works well, and easy to use just press tune on the Radio and it raises or lowers depending on the frequency.I hope this is of some use to some one.
